KaiOS is a Linux based mobile operating system that "merges the power of a smartphone with the affordability of a feature phones". It is forked from B2G, an open source community-driven successor of Firefox OS which was discontinued by Mozilla in 2016. KaiOS feature is to support of 4G LTE, GPS and Wi-Fi with HTML5-based apps and longer battery life onto non-touch devices with optimized user interface, less memory and energy consumption. The most best feature of this OS is that it support over-the-air-updates. A dedicated app store called KaiStore enables users to download applicationsk. Some services

The operating system first appeared in 2017 and is developed by KaiOS Technologies inc., a San Diego, California-based Company headed by CEO Sebastien Codeville with offices in other countries.
In June 2018, it was revealed that Google had invested US$22 million in the operating system. KaiOS is the heart of the reborn Nokia 8110 4G, fitting as the operating system itself is a Firefox OS that rose from the ashes.

As part of the investment, the search giant will help launch its apps on KaiOS like Google Maps, YouTube, Search and even the Google Assistant. Facebook and Twitter apps are already available and WhatsApp is on the way too.
HMD's "featurephones" efforts, though, TCL and Micromax are partners too along with carriers such as Jio, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, Qualcomm.
